Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Your files never leave your device. The PDF is split by your own browser, and nothing is sent to a server.
How do I write page ranges?
Separate ranges with commas, and use a dash for a run of pages: 1-3, 5, 8-10 makes three PDFs, with pages 1 to 3, page 5, and pages 8 to 10. Pages are counted from 1. If a range is not valid, for example 0, 9-4 or a page past the end, you are told what is wrong before you split.
Why do I get a .zip file?
When the result is several PDFs, they are put in a single .zip file so you only download once. Most phones and computers open .zip files with a tap or a double-click.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, with nothing compressed again.
How big can my PDF be?
Up to 100 MB and 2,000 pages. On a phone, files over 50 MB can run out of memory, so you will see a warning first.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
A PDF that needs a password to open cannot be split: remove the password in your PDF app first. A PDF that opens without a password but restricts things like editing or printing is split like any other, and the result does not keep those restrictions.
