Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Your files never leave your device. They are combined by your own browser, on your phone or computer, and nothing is sent to a server.
Is Merge PDF free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it.
How many files can I merge, and how big can they be?
Each file can be up to 100 MB and all files together up to 200 MB, with up to 2,000 pages in a document. On a phone, very large files can run out of memory, so you will see a warning when they add up to more than 50 MB.
Can I change the order of the pages?
You can change the order of the files: drag them, or use Move up and Move down. The pages inside each file keep their order.
What is kept, and what is not kept when I merge?
Merging keeps the page content, page size and rotation of every page, and links that go straight to another page. It does not keep bookmarks, interactive form fields, layers (layers that were hidden become visible), links to named destinations, page labels, accessibility tags or document metadata such as the title and author.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
A PDF that needs a password to open cannot be merged: remove the password in your PDF app first, then add it again. A PDF that opens without a password but restricts things like editing or printing is merged like any other, and the merged file does not keep those restrictions.
