Privacy policy

Your files

Every tool on FreeTools runs in your web browser. When you merge, compress, split, rotate or convert a file, it is processed locally, on your own phone or computer. Your files are never uploaded to a server, so we never see them, and they are never stored, shared or sold.

Your files, their names and their contents stay in your browser's memory only while you use a tool. Press Start over, or close the page, and they are gone.

One exception, still only on your device: when you press "Do more with this file", the result is kept in your browser's own storage just long enough to open it in the next tool. It is deleted as soon as that tool picks it up, and never kept for more than 2 minutes.

Analytics

We do not count visits yet. If we start, we will use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, does not follow you across other websites and does not build a profile of you. It would receive the address of the page you visited and basic details of the visit, such as the browser type and country, but never your files, their names or their contents. We will update this page before we turn it on.

Cookies and storage in your browser

FreeTools uses no cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Your browser may keep a few things for you on your device: your choice of light or dark theme, your saved workflows (the steps and settings only, never files), and a copy of the site so it works offline. None of this is ever sent to us.

Hosting

The website is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any website host, Cloudflare handles the technical details of each page request, such as your IP address, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Your files are not part of these requests.

Changes to this policy

If we change how FreeTools handles your privacy, we will update this page first.
